Introducing our new masterclass: Ready to Regulate

Meet Lisa Hughes – One of Australia’s Most Trusted OT Mentors

In 1994, Lisa Hughes founded Occupational Therapy Helping Children (OTHC) on Sydney’s Northern Beaches—one of the first practices in Australia to make occupational therapy not just effective, but fun, engaging, and truly life-changing. Over the decades, Lisa has become a pioneer in paediatric OT, mentoring professionals across Australia and internationally.

Driven by a passion to support and empower fellow therapists, Lisa launched NewPossibilOTs. Backed by a multidisciplinary team, she created NewPoss to bridge the gap between theory-heavy learning and the realities of clinical practice. Her mission: to equip OTs with the real-world knowledge, confidence, and skills they need from day one in the clinic.

Lisa has helped hundreds of occupational therapists feel capable, confident, and ready to make a difference. Now, she’s ready to share her tools and insights with you.

Real-world support for real-life practice

There’s nothing like being an OT in paediatrics. It’s a rewarding career that can change a child’s life.

But it’s not like the textbooks.

In paediatrics, there’s a world of difference between academic learning and on-the-ground OT practice.

Clinical competence is just the starting point. You’ve also got to:

  • Overcome imposter syndrome
  • Build a strong rapport with your two clients – the child and their family.
  • Balance your work with other aspects of your life.
